My canon ixus55 (ixy 60) does not get picked up by windows on either of my computers, and in canon camera window, it says that that it cant detect camera, check if cable is plugged in! stupid! wont work on either of my 2 computers, ive never had any other problems with any other digital cameras ive used in the past, but this is the first time ive needed to connect my canon camera to my computer, thanks in advance for any help |

If not start them and see how you go... | | geek_helpless | March 19, 2008, 1:40 pm | #3 | | No I haven't Linux just recognizes them as a usb imaging device soon as you plug them in and turn them on.Up pops the icon..No need to install any Camera software.Dual boot and your problem will be over. | | geek_nzoomed | March 19, 2008, 1:48 pm | #4 | | I have linux, i think i will try it the problem is that windows does not even pick it up under any usb devices, and i dont think its going to work, ill check the services though | | geek_nzoomed | March 19, 2008, 1:49 pm | #5 | | Neither of those services are on the list im running win2k on this pc, and xp on my laptop | | geek_crab2 | March 19, 2008, 2:38 pm | #6 | | Google your camera and see if you have to install some software for it to be recognised | | geek_nzoomed | March 19, 2008, 2:55 pm | #7 | | Google wasnt much help but ive installed all the software that came with my camera when i bought it. It is a parallel imported version of the ixus55 called an ixy60 from japan, should that affect anything? | | geek_nzoomed | March 19, 2008, 3:08 pm | #8 | | In the instruction manual it says you cant downloa movies bigger than 210mb to the comupter with the cable anyway, so its a fat lot of use me even trying. because i have movies on the SD card that are bigger than that! whats the point of a cable if you cant do that! most cameras ive seen usually turn the camera into a card reader as such, it gives you a drive letter in my computer, but this camera doesnt, some let you change modes, mine only uses the PTP standard. Whats annoying me is my card reader wont read my SD card but the camera does, but im sure i was able to read it in my pc before i took piccures, and i had never formatted the card in my camera either. | | Leave your comment: | |
