Watching Prime on Freeview?| geek_datoofairy | March 18, 2008, 8:06 pm | #1 | | Watching Prime on Freeview? I know this isnt about Computers but you guys tend to be pretty clued up on these things. We cannot get Prime with a regular aerial. We now have Freeview, using a generic brand decoder - not an official Freeview decoder. I am wanting to know if its possible to somehow tune it so we can watch Prime? Thanks :o) |

Thanks. | | geek_d.snell | March 18, 2008, 8:13 pm | #4 | | And I doubt you will ever as Prime is owned by sky... | | geek_evoeater | March 18, 2008, 8:25 pm | #5 | | But Sky brought prime to enter the free to air market and give a platform for their sports. From memory they got the 2010 & 2012 Olympics by providing a way for free coverage, in fact just checking now they said they'll be providing free coverage via Prime. Therefore Sky will bring Prime to Freeview but it may not ever come to Freeview satellite (broadcast licensing reasons with some aussie channel and such), it will come to Freeview UHF... when the uptake reaches a level that they deem acceptable, they've got until 2010 | | geek_mattie47 | March 18, 2008, 9:46 pm | #6 | | What I don't get is why on earth Prime can't go on Satellite (Optus D1). As from what i've heard Prime is going on Terrestrial Freeview. I mean seriously.I'm presuming it's because they don't want Aussies to receive it (like how we at times can get aussie channels.). But this is easily fixed by changing the polarization of the beam. So it is only facing NZ. | | geek_savagehurricane | March 18, 2008, 9:52 pm | #7 | | Prime IS on Optus D1... but it is broadcast through Sky. Sky and Freeview are both broadcasting from the Optus D1 satellite. If you want Prime, you can phone Sky (0800 759 759) and they will send you a decoder (and install a dish if necessary, obviously not in your case) for a one off payment of $145.00. No further subscription required. | | geek_hdmovies | March 18, 2008, 10:54 pm | #8 | | Hmm that sounds like a cheap way to get freeview sat. | | Leave your comment: | |
