Making DVDs - do I need special hardware/software? I have a digital video camera & have just bought a DVD burner which came bundled with Nero. I have some video of my Nan who passed on & my daughter as a baby, and I want to put them on DVD for family. I have all the leads that came with the camera, but I have a funny feeling it might not plug straight into the PC (it's currently on loan with a friend). Thoughts?

It should do most come with a USB (or failing that, firewire) cable. Fire up Windows Movie Maker and import the movie with the camera attached to your computer. So basically, you should have everything you need already. WMM instructions: http://tinyurl.com/3zcat

Thanks for that I don't have a firewire port on my PC. I'll check with my friend to see if it has USB. It's a Sony, about 5 years old.

If you know the model number You can google it. What does it record onto (dvds)?

I don't recall what the model # is wish I had it here with me. DVDs... hahaha. Nah, it takes digital 8s, so a dinosaur by today's standards - but it's only been used a few times so no sense in replacing it.

Gyrofromthenaki LOL You just need a USB A -2-USB B connector for the camera 2 computer.

Scweet! My friend's going to check whether it has usb. I could install a firewire port, but probably not worth it for the amount I'd use it.
