Not computing but a telecoms person may know.| geek_tigra | March 18, 2008, 10:19 am | #1 | | Not computing but a telecoms person may know. I get several calls from Aussie but on my Caller ID they show up as an 09 number. Why is this?? |

| | geek_wpmoore | March 18, 2008, 11:31 am | #2 | | What are the next 3 numbers ? Could be someone using a service like
VFX from xnet or italk from slingshot or another VoIP provider.
It basically means they have a local
Auckland number but they can call from any country in the world. (as long as they have their VoIP set up
over there. | | geek_traceedwards | March 18, 2008, 11:32 am | #3 | | Calling cards also | | geek_bogues1 | March 18, 2008, 11:44 am | #4 | | Could also be skype I have an Auckland SkypeIn number, so all calls I make to landlines from Skype (including while I'm in Brisbane) have a caller ID of 09 889 xxxx. | | geek_tigra | March 18, 2008, 12:20 pm | #5 | | 09 929 1490 is the number that show up on my Caller ID. Definitely not Skype but possible somebody using some sort of transfer arangement. | | geek_soodanim | March 18, 2008, 12:28 pm | #6 | | Lol answer the call and ask em! hehe | | geek_badcam | March 18, 2008, 12:57 pm | #7 | | Tigra. It has to be some sort of VOIP system or calling card (probably VOIP as well). Why is it of such a concern? | | geek_guyh | March 18, 2008, 3:21 pm | #8 | | I would say.. It is a calling card such as Kiwi Card or Easycall or E-Phone. All of those cards show up as 09 929 XXXX | | geek_shiningstar8 | March 18, 2008, 3:23 pm | #9 | | Ours comes up 0000 if it is a call from aussie how ever when a person use to ring us from Ohakune the number would come up 04 ###### Kune is 06 so don't know what happened there, and it use to happen everytime they rang us. | | Leave your comment: | |
