Internet Explorer Help Explorer will only load some pages. And we are also getting some pop up screens from "lovecrush". I have run a virus check on AVG and nothing appears. We did have a trojan come in the other day though. Can anyone help please? Can't even search on google!!

Thanks but it din't work.. Am still getting pop up screens about antvru software and stuff. Is there a specific Explorer Fix type of program out there anywhere that I can try?
geek_lythande1September 15, 2008, 3:44 pm#4
Spyware Run that one AND Spybot. Make sure both are updated first.

It sounds badBest fix is to reinstall You may be able to copy off your data and restore the system.. All other scans/fixes are time consuming and unreliable when you have this level of spyware/virus trouble..

Re-install is a bit over the top for thistake deodars advice.. scan for spyware firstyou have options such as restore points if created. try using another browser to see same infections are present.
geek_lostdudeSeptember 16, 2008, 12:02 am#9
Agreed, reinstall is over the top. These are common spyware that have thorough solutions readily available.
geek_got2bin2winSeptember 16, 2008, 12:08 am#10
Agree with 8 & 9 but sounds like a possible rootkit do a google and run a free rootkit revealer like black light or the likes and down load vundo fix and run that as well & I hate to say it you could also give windows defender a shot.

Also, after cleaning, maybe it's about time to use a reputable AV/Spyware solution? ESS (Eset Smart Security) is prob one the most effective & non-intrusive solutions on the market. I used to only use NOD32 and trialled their ESS suite on debut. Was riddled with problems so went back to just NOD32. Now they've fixed all their initial problems, I can find no fault in it. Trial ESS for 30 days. http://www.eset.com/download/free_trial_download_int.php

what a moron......grow a brain.......'best fix is to reinstall' duh ! remind me never to reccomend you as a 'tech' to ANYONE.......
geek_drcspySeptember 16, 2008, 6:28 am#13
Lol "all other scan's/fixes are time consuming'.......yeh so what......how long do you expect it'd take them to backup their data (even IF they were competant to do so and relatively quick), then reinstall the operating system/drivers/settings/apps/data.......what a MORON.....
geek_vtecintegraSeptember 16, 2008, 7:50 am#14
13The data should already be backed up. The most difficult part of a Windows install these days is installing the correct updates before allowing an internet connection (difficult if you only have an XP RTM machine). Still my preferred option though as you can never really trust a compromised system again.

Thankou one and allI have tried Spybot, Windows Defender and Adware as well. None of them will update as it comes up with an error in each one. I will try and download the previous mentioned ideas. But I can't search on Google because of the problem so if anyone can post the link to any downlds that would be great. Thanks again.

Why do people even use IE ? makes you think;.
geek_helplessSeptember 17, 2008, 10:24 am#17
Their insane thats why I was at a site yesterday where they had the real time identification of opsys/browers etc as the people came along viewing the site.I was shocked at the amount of IE's and crap house Windows boxes still in use..My lone Penguin icon and Firefox emblem made me feel quite proud..

RE: 15 You need to do an offline scan using one of the assorted boot-cds available. Hirens, Minipe-XT, avast, linux-live etc etc. If you can't get your hands on the latest of any of the above, then you're better off taking it in to a tech, or call one in to scan your PC.
