My 9 year old nephew thought he'd be smart

geek_2gd4ubbOctober 9, 2008, 8:22 pm#1
My 9 year old nephew thought he'd be smart and play his PSP game on the big screen using the PS3. He inserted the PSP game into the PS3 and now it doesn't work. He noticed that perhaps he broke it this way and tried to open the PS3 up. He removed the 'warranty is void if sticker is removed' label and attempted to open it himself. Now I have a $900+ block of sh** sitting in my living room. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement disk drive from? (obv has to be blu-ray and PS3 compatible). Will sony sell me one or am I able to send my PS3 in for it to be fixed? TIA

Go to the shop and throw yourself at their mercy (also offer the nephew as a sacrifice).

I'd imagine it'd be cheaper to buy another console. This has a decent buy now: 181583177

Epic fail ..

Wow.. That's surprisingly cheap . I've confiscated my nephews PSP until further notice. I've advised his parents about it and they were spewing. I might flick his PSP off and see how much I get to put towards a new PS3. _sigh_

LOL gibler. Notice how it's always someones nephew or kid? Bummer. Send the kid to military school. If he hadn't removed the sticker you might've been able to explain it as an accident to your insurance company.

sounds like a better plan than attempting to get it repaired, given you'll need a fairly heavy wallet to pay for it.

Claim insurance and get a brand new one. .

Is a kid deliberately doing that an "accident"? I mean he didn't go out to break it, but it's not as if it was a toddler trying to stuff an action man into a video or something.

How would you put a PSP game ina PS3????? those PSP discs are ins special case that would not fit in the slot of a PS3! it must of been really jammed in tight!
geek_2gd4ubbOctober 11, 2008, 11:31 am#13
What? It's a small little disc which he just pushed in.
geek_kylea_damienOctober 11, 2008, 11:31 am#14
Thats what i was thinking Unless he pulled the UMD apart and then put the inside bit of the UMD into the ps3. Would the PS3 even take something that small?
geek_nzoomedOctober 11, 2008, 11:43 am#15
Thats right a UMD is in a protective case, so the kid must of pulled the case apart and taken the disc out then inserted it into the ps3
