Broadband speeds; how slow is too slow?

Broadband speeds; how slow is too slow? Just did a speed test on my Aunt's broadband connection and it's appallingly slow (as I'd guessed from struggling with it for the last two days!). At least it is compared to my home connection. What speed would you consider unacceptable for your broadband, and if it dropped that low, what would you do about it?

Depends on your plan, for a start.

Hihi logg into your modem and see your status, it will show sync rate. if you are on max/128 you should get more than 2mb down. try power cycle modem for about a minute

Does she have all the filters plugged in, and also, lots of phones can kill the connection rate (does here at least)
geek_rhys.mOctober 10, 2008, 7:15 am#6
And the results of the speed test were..? She could have reached her data limit and be capped to 64k.
geek_laj3October 10, 2008, 10:05 am#7
Well woosh is so slow they cant even call it BB anymore =(
geek_gertyOctober 10, 2008, 10:05 am#8
She's with Xtra on the $59 plan. Not reached data limit (no where near), so not capped. Got filters on every phone. It's not her computer, because my lappy is clocking the same speeds. Modem seems fine. Just contacted Xtra and they are looking into it (my speed test was showing upload at around 250kb).
geek_laj3October 10, 2008, 10:08 am#9
