Get a bigger hard drive and image the existing system onto it.......a 250gb hdd is only about $100 now and you can image it for free using a program like 'drive image xml'.....

Http://tmcmb.wikispaces.com/ccleaner how much free space do you have?
| geek_justtrees | October 11, 2008, 7:59 am | #5 |
A few things to tryOkay, first, go into My Computer, then right-click on the icon for your hard drive, (usually "Local Disk (C:)"), and select "Properties" from the menu. You should get a nice pie-graph showing hard drive space, (used and free). This is a good way to see exactly how much space you have. Delete your Temporary Internet Files to recalim some space. You can also search your drive for files like "*.tmp", and "*.bak" as they are normally safe to delete. Also, empty your Recycle binLet us know how you get on, or if you need any more help.

...AlsoI'm assuming this is Windows XP? If so, another way to get some space back is to disable "System Restore". Be aware that this would mean you can't "roll back" to an earlier time if something happens on your PC, so you could do this until you reclaim some space, then turn it back on. To disable System Restore, Right-click on your "My Computer" and select properties. Click on the "System Restore" tab, and check the box to "Turn off System Restore". Reboot, and you should have some drive space back. Uninstall any programs you definitely don't use/need anymore, archive off old photos, music etcHope this helps. :)

Thanks for the help so far I might just take it to the shop and pay them to do it, a lot less stress...and time saving as well, I dont have much time to sit here and fiddle with it these days...and I do need more Ram, I have been meaning to get it done for ages now...
| geek_art4ukiwi | October 11, 2008, 9:37 am | #13 |
Good idea It will relieve u of stressTell the shop to leave the original drive in it and put a secondary drive in. You can have more than one drive in your PC.

If you're goin to pay someone to fix the issue pay them to image your hdd to a bigger one and leave the old one in there for spare backup space etc.....as I said a new drive will cost maybe $100 and the job should only cost $40-$50 at most it's really very simple to do if you know what to do and you have the right programs.....I could do, and have done jobs like this in 40 mins including installing the new drive and imaging the old onto it.....and half that time would be sitting there watchin the imaging process happening

Oh yep and ram is still relatively cheap and a 5 minute job to install
