| | geek_boots0016 | March 8, 2008, 7:01 pm | #2 | | Tap F8 on startup . | | geek_rosscoe_m | March 8, 2008, 7:11 pm | #3 | | Yep did that no go... ...I did the same old F8 thing on boot up nas I do on my other pc but it goes to an error screen on the laptop | | geek_boots0016 | March 8, 2008, 7:16 pm | #4 | | It is a bit sensitive as to when you start tapping Start tapping just after the first beep. | | geek_boots0016 | March 8, 2008, 7:20 pm | #5 | PS: Make sure your sound is turned up. fn key and pageup turns your sound up. | | geek_swivel | March 8, 2008, 7:28 pm | #6 | | In Normal mode Check the config.sys file, as you use to ba able to pit a line in there at the start to stop the Safe mode boot | | geek_swivel | March 8, 2008, 8:31 pm | #7 | | Or... on some systems F6 is to get into safe mode. | | geek_boots0016 | March 8, 2008, 8:40 pm | #8 | | #7 Swivel On the 600e its f8 | | geek_swivel | March 8, 2008, 8:47 pm | #9 | | Keys for safe mode are dictated by the Software installed (so I was told). could be wrong. | | geek_boots0016 | March 8, 2008, 8:55 pm | #10 | | Do you mean operating system installed ? . | | geek_p.lingham | March 8, 2008, 9:10 pm | #11 | | Sounds like you need to get into the bios and sort the problems out first b4 you can get the OS to boot to use the f8 safe mode, more than likely you need to set the time and date first and replace the bios battery as thats normal on that old laptop have a couple here and that was the problem with them. | | geek_swivel | March 8, 2008, 9:26 pm | #12 | | Hello Yep. the OS installed. I have an old system at the shop which is F6 to give you the choice. But then #1 hasn't come back, as the OS may have the Switch=n or 1 (i think that was it in the config.sys) | | geek_swivel | March 8, 2008, 9:29 pm | #13 | | OK... not sure with the IBM now. Just did a google and found one where the guy "holding f1 and other keys to get safe mode " so could be via model. | | geek_boots0016 | March 8, 2008, 9:36 pm | #14 | | F1 gets you into bios . | | geek_p.lingham | March 8, 2008, 9:40 pm | #15 | | Should have read first lol f8 works on it as does on mine, maybe the key does not work on it any more?, could need to replace the keyboard | | geek_p.lingham | March 8, 2008, 9:41 pm | #16 | | Have u tried an external keyboard on it? | | Leave your comment: | |
