Are both computers connected to the router, either with a cable, or wirelessly? I'm not sure if you're asking how to set up the router with both computers, or once they're connected, how to do file sharing.

Yea both computers are connected to the modem via ethernet cable. All i want to do is share files between each pc, instead of making a copy of a file and transfering via usb i can just send via the network.

Have you run the network wizard and enable file/printer sharing on both? (control panel)

Share right click on a folder or drive u want to share,,click properties in "network sharing and security" there are 2 boxes tick them click ok.... make sure to right click my computer icon ...properties,,,computer name,,,,,, they need to be the same on both PCs restart systems if using a thridparty firewall U will have to give permission or disable while sharing I prefer to share a folder it is safer than sharing a drive good luck

Yep and that'll only work if you've enabled the file sharing in the first place.

And it's the workgroup that needs to be the same, not the computer name
