computer doesnt read cds for some reason

Computer doesnt read cds for some reason like when you put a cd in they like automatically open usually well it doesnt do that. and also if you go into my computer it doesnt show up there. how can it be fixed

Open up windows media player and go to the RIP part and see what is says. report back asap

Maybe it's crap and the drive doesn't want to play it lol

All cds. in media it says a cd drive is needed in order to rip music from cds. i have one i cant understand how it just randomly stopped working

It'a a machine that's what happens....they either work or they dont......if it's a dead drive and it's a desktop dont even think about fixing the drive it'd be bad economics you jst rip it out and replace it cost about $50 at most for a dvd writer drive......very easy to replace

MUCH more expensive to fix........possibly cheaper to get an external cd drive....

Re thats what happened to us and we had to do a system restore because it was sum real bad malware.

Go into start/run type regedit. If you can get into the registry it's possibly the drive.If you can't and that's what happened to me along with the cd icon dissappearing it's a relative easy fix.Run hijackthis and save a log file. But before the Trademe gestapo jump on me I want to make it clear "That's what happened to me" period.

Uninstall and reinstall your cd player .
