| Well change the update time to something other than the default, as then your trying to update with everyone else. Or try Clamwin |
| geek_pheonix | November 21, 2008, 7:27 am | #3 |
| Try Avast , or AntiVir .. both free also. Clamwin is a scanner only and doesn't stay active. Avast ( http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html ) |

| Malwarebytes is the best and it's free. |
| geek_swivel | November 21, 2008, 11:50 am | #5 |
| Gary06 LOL. 1/ you don't read and 2/ thats not a Virus program |
| geek_vinniehall | November 21, 2008, 12:57 pm | #6 |
| Avg is the best Don't change from AVG, and DON'T buy a "package" like mcafee or norton, it'll kill your computer unless you are running XP with more than 2GB of RAM.
If you want a good antivirus that ISN'T free, upgrade to AVG Anti-Malware.
If you don't want to pay, stick with AVG. Just change the update time like 2. said. |

| geek_gary06 | November 21, 2008, 1:18 pm | #9 |
| Every one has there own preferance and opinion.I used AVG for years and upgraded frequently untill I got a virus last week that stopped me opening regedit.AVG couldn't find this.I switched to malwarebytes free down load and it removed it and found 11 others. All I'm saying is it works for me, it's free and you down load updates when you want.I'd never go back to AVG. |
| geek_swivel | November 21, 2008, 1:21 pm | #10 |
| Gary06 LOL. It's not a Virus program, Malwarebytes is for Malware. So if it found something it wasn't Virus related. Sh!T if you don't know that, you shouldn't be on a computer |
| geek_intrade | November 21, 2008, 1:23 pm | #11 |
| Re*9 we have now so mutch threads about avgsux problems and people with virus with avgsux. and swivel has the pay version. It is probably the same as zonalarm the pay version is better then the free crap.. so why would you use crap when there is better free ones like avast and antivir. Each time i removed avg form a clients machine and replaced it with antivir it found up to 42 trojan viruses.. Do only ever install 1 antivirus never 2 at the same time use crapcleaner to clean regestrys. www.ccleaner.com |
| geek_swivel | November 21, 2008, 1:25 pm | #12 |
| Intrade yes you could be right that I don't have the problem as mines rego'd. But then my rego'd version has found virus's your program didn't. But you miss one thing. G thinks Malwarebytes is a virus program as well. |

| For swivel from Wikipedia Malware, a portmanteau word from the words malicious and software, is software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system without the owner's informed consent. The expression is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code.[1]
Many computer users are unfamiliar with the term, and often use "computer virus" for all types of malware, including true viruses.
Software is considered malware based on the perceived intent of the creator rather than any particular features. Malware includes computer viruses, worms, trojan horses, most rootkits, spyware, dishonest adware, crimeware and other malicious and unwanted software. In law, malware is sometimes known as a computer contaminant, for instance in the legal codes of several |
