Motherboard Saga continues A few weeks ago I posted about a GA-MA78GM-S2H motherboard with a phenom x3 2.4ghz and 2 x 2gb sticks of DDR2 800. The pc wasnt posting to bios and the result was a dead memory stick. Now we have 2 new sticks of memory 2 x 2gb DDR2 800 and the computer will not post first time. It takes 2-3 times for the pc to start. I have swapped PSU, ram and re-done the cpu and cooler with same results.

Now I find out that out of the 4 slots, when I put to sticks in DDR2-3 and DDR2-4 slots the computer will not post at all. For some reason it only likes one 2gb stick of the 2gb apacer ram. Is it a faulty motherboard?

I have 4 x 512mb Geil chips two pairs are serial matched eg 9001 9001 and 9002 9002 , if i mix them on the channels, the machine wont post first try, if i put the 9001's in slot 1 and 2 and the 9002's in slot 3 and 4 it will boot fine, difficult to explain in writing. if i put 9001 in slot 1 then 9002 in slot 2, it will boot, if i put eather in slot 3 (in combination with the first two slots) it has issues booting

..........Sounds like a BIOS fault dude. Gigabyte dual BIOS motherboards are a pain in the ass sometimes. I got a gigabyte GA-M750SLi-DS4 Board and im now having to replace that for the 3rd time
