My computer has crashed

#1 | | My computer has crashed i was just surfing the net when everything froze and nothing would move or open. so i restarted the computer all the lights on the tower light up but nothing comes up on the screen dvd drive opens and closes but nothing on the screen what should i do now? | |

#2 | | Depending on you knowledge of computers depends what you do now, i would guess that its either a memory, graphics or PSU problem. is it onboard or graphics card, if you looked on the inside of your computer do you know what the memory sticks look like and the Hard drive and rom drive... i'm NOT asking you to open it im just asking you IF you would recognise those things.... |

#4 | | Does it beep when you start it up? depending on your bios sometimes you can figure out what is wrong by the number of beeps, check this link out http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm |

#9 | | Ok... Since you know what things look like on the inside, i would like you to remove the RAM sticks and re-seat them, unplug the POWER molex (white 4 prong connectors) that go both into your Hard drive and ROM drive and try to boot.... see if you get anything on the monitor. |

#10 | | Oh and if you have more than one RAM stick then try one at a time (normaly placed in the left hand bank if they run vertical) or the top if they run horizontal accross the main board. |
