who's got a bitsa?| geek_sirfer | March 11, 2008, 1:59 pm | #1 | | Who's got a bitsa? i.e a computer that you have pulled together from various bits you have accumulated? mine's gigabyte socket 478 mobo, celeron D 2.53GHz with 2GB of RAM (4x512MB all different sorts), Ti4200 Nvidia graphics, 160GB ata and a 250GB sata drive all in some indeterminate thermalTake case...interestingly the mobo and video card were supposed to be broken and the fan was broke on the video card so I pillaged the cooling fan off a socket7 cpu sink and jammed it on the card and it goes great...all round it looks like crap but runs like a dream...please share :o) |

I tallied mine up to about $120 for the box, not including keyboard etc | | geek_charles.j | March 11, 2008, 7:17 pm | #7 | | .... celeron 2.6ghz, 768mb ram, nvidia fx5500. 2x 40gb's | | geek_charles.j | March 11, 2008, 7:29 pm | #8 | | Re #4 celeron D's were better than the straight celerons.. | | geek_woogmo | March 11, 2008, 7:39 pm | #9 | | Stole part of it off my brother when he joined the navy, accumulated the rest from other pc's, don't think i paid for any of it | | geek_sirfer | March 11, 2008, 9:42 pm | #10 | | Re #8 & #9 pay no heed to mystic-miscreant, she's a hit-and-run type...and woogmo, you win the prize for cheapest PC :) | | geek_helpless | March 11, 2008, 9:50 pm | #11 | | 120..thats a cheap bitza Mine are all bitza's..bout 5 of them.Slightly more expensive to put together than your's as that was when I was into quality bits..Now I don;t care so anything goes when this lot explode. | | geek_xpdnz | March 11, 2008, 10:42 pm | #12 | ... Everything on this system was found/obtained with no money apart from the DVD drive and HDD which were purchased new...... Athlon 64 3200+ 1gb DDR RAM, 250gb SATA, 7600GS video card.... Motehrboard/cpu was in a box of rubbish, was told it wouldnt boot anything, took it home, played with the BIOS and got it booting...was still a bit touchy so upgraded BIOS and its been great since. Was originally given a Geforce 6600 video card by a friend who upgraded to a 7600GS, then he upgraded to PCI-X so I got the 7600 instead :) Now I have a ati X1900 X-fire 512mb sitting here I cant use as Im still on AGP.. (sigh) maybe should sell it here... | | geek_mystic_miss | March 12, 2008, 12:49 am | #13 | | Re #6 Conratulations on having "a thought" | | geek_sirfer | March 12, 2008, 8:43 am | #14 | | Re#13 well be sure to let us know when you have one :oP | | Leave your comment: | |
