How do you mean i'ts not opening IE........it does NOT matter how many other browsers you have installed you should be able to clik the IE icon and IE should open up.......does it ?

Isn't it an amazing coincidence So many problem computers were working fine before.I had a car like that I wrapped around a pole;it was
working great until then.

Oh by the way you have a LOT of rubbish and most likely unnecesary programs running in the system tray (lower right hand side of your screen)......I'd suggest you also clik start/run and type in msconfig then tap enter then goto the startup tab and weed out most of them except for the antivirus......

Ok you may have to replace this file : iertutil.dll it resides in the c:/windows/system32 folder heres how to replace it....firstly you'll need to download a versoin from somewhere and then you'll need to delete the existing one and replace it but you cant just delete it as the system will say 'it's in use'....so do this: Reboot in Safe Mode and overwrite the files or 2) use a program call Unlocker Assistant. It will bypass the file in use message.

here is the link for the Unlocker: http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/

geek_drcspy February 18, 2009, 3:17 pm

Try that file replacement in safe mode....then you wont need to install anything
geek_tammy30 February 18, 2009, 3:19 pm
#23
Im sorry but i dont know how to do that i know how to go into safe mode but thats about it.

This is the file you need to replace apparently from what i've found on google...."iertutil.dll"......you can download it from here: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/iertutil.zip?0VFgWAXEdQ its a zip file so you'll have to 'extract' or 'unzip' it when you have it....then restart in safe mode and go into your c:/windows/system32 folder and delete the version in there then drag the one you have downloaded into there.......then restart....

Ive have done it as you said (i think) and there was no file in there called that. I added the downloaded one and it made no difference.
