Help with changing a domain name please.
| geek_shellbell13 | June 30, 2009, 12:50 pm | #1 | | Help with changing a domain name please. To cut a long story short I had someone set up a website for me earlier in the year. They organised buying the domain name for me so it is registered in their name. I want it changed over to my name and they said they would do it but I had to organise it. They weren't happy about it at all. I do have a form that someone kindly gave me but need some more info and advice please. | |

| geek_shellbell13 | June 30, 2009, 12:51 pm | #2 | | All this website and domain name stuff is new to me and I am confused. Should I just copy the form and send it to them and hope they sort it out or what. |
| geek_soodanim | June 30, 2009, 12:55 pm | #3 | | What form? that who kindly gave you...? They need to sort it out. How are you supposed to organise it when they are the owners? Who is it registered with? |
| geek_tessal | June 30, 2009, 12:57 pm | #4 | | Woah shell you still haven't acted? since i gave you the forms a few weeks ago? |
| geek_jancemord | June 30, 2009, 1:07 pm | #5 | | The forms need to be filled out and sent back to the domain company who is the domain company? |
| geek_tessal | June 30, 2009, 1:10 pm | #6 | | Jancemord from earlier discussions with shell a few weeks ago,the picture painted..was that the website developer registered the domain/hosting under there own name/company..now she wants all titles transfered to her name/company. |
| geek_tessal | June 30, 2009, 1:11 pm | #7 | | Only problem standing tween her and the developer and the forms she has,is they need to be signed by both parties...just her signature on it will not to. |
| geek_tessal | June 30, 2009, 1:11 pm | #8 | | Bah " will not do " |
| geek_tessal | June 30, 2009, 1:13 pm | #9 | | It could get even messy if the developer wants to bury head in the sand over the whole matter and not want to sign a thing. |
| geek_shellbell13 | June 30, 2009, 1:15 pm | #10 | | Thanks. I was just looking at the form you sent to me. Was wondering if there was a contact phone number or email so I could talk to whoever will be sending the form. I want to check to see whether there are any charges etc. I did spead to the develop. Well actually she didn't get back to me. Her husband did and he wasn't very helpful. He said they would sign it over but I need to organise it. He wasn't happy about it at all but said he would do it. |
| geek_shellbell13 | June 30, 2009, 1:16 pm | #11 | | Is the domain company the place they registered the name at? Is there anyway I could find out who they registered it with? |
| geek_tessal | June 30, 2009, 1:18 pm | #12 | | Yes,you can whats the website,i can get you the details. |
| geek_hdmovies | June 30, 2009, 1:19 pm | #13 | | Just get them to fill out the form as much as possible. | |

| geek_tessal | June 30, 2009, 1:26 pm | #15 | | Ok go here http://www.dnc.org.nz in the domain search on the left hand side paste/type in ezpzbaby and hit " enter " details will be shown. |
| geek_shellbell13 | June 30, 2009, 1:41 pm | #16 | Thank you. I got in touch with these people.
domainagent.co.nz
They also said they should have registered it in my name. And there is no charge. So I will get my partner to scan the form when he gets home and we will email it to them and cross our fingers. |
| geek_tessal | June 30, 2009, 1:43 pm | #17 | | Nice one shell and your welcome. |
| geek_jancemord | June 30, 2009, 1:53 pm | #18 | | If only every domain like this ends well |
| geek_shellbell13 | June 30, 2009, 1:56 pm | #19 | | Well lets hope it ends well. |
| geek_shellbell13 | June 30, 2009, 4:43 pm | #20 | | Just sent the form off. Fingers crossed for me please. I bet it will be several days before I hear anything from them. Thanks everyone for your help especially tessal. |
| geek_shellbell13 | July 1, 2009, 3:28 pm | #21 | | What a surprise. I haven't heard back from them yet. I'll give them a couple of days then will follow it up. |
| geek_thenexus | July 1, 2009, 3:38 pm | #22 | Err What? Very confused here.
You should just open an account with an authorised .nz registrar (there is a list on the DNC website), ask the developer for your domain names UDAI and transfer it to your account. They whole process would take you less than 10 minutes. |
| geek_shellbell13 | July 1, 2009, 3:43 pm | #23 | | Thanks but now I am even more confused. |
| geek_bidda2 | July 1, 2009, 6:25 pm | #24 | | Form? If the company aren't a reseller, I would assume you could just register and get the domain owner to push it to your account. I'm probably missing something though | |
