#1 | | Compaq nx6120 wifi issue hi! wifi has never worked on my three year old lappy and that has never been a prob before but will be soon! wireless assistant does not detect etc etc on start up. i know the modem etc (thomson) works ok because my itouch works on it. i have tried downloading drivers and all sorts and online chatting with hp in india presumably. any ideas? you'd be way high on the christmas card list if you can fix this for me :)

#3 | | I have heard that. there is the little button with the icon of the antenna and the little light; if there is a key combo, i don't know what that is alas. |

#9 | | Yeh well.......the original poster says they 'thought maybe a driver was missing' so they dont KNOW....therefore they are not obviously aware of device manager or else they'd have checked that as for removing the wireless card that's impossible in a lappy. Soooo....ikesta I assume this lappy has xp on it ?....please confirm that |

#15 | | Drcspy It's called a mini-pci card - click through the link to the HP page and section 6.8 shows you how to remove it. |

#16 | | Nope not at all it seemed to me that broadcom was simply ethernet, but i'm a toddler at this. |

#17 | | Yeh well ........maybe it is.........try this.restart the pc......at the very beginning screen right after you've pressed the power button look for some kind hint like 'press xxx key to access setup'......ah from memory it's usually the F10 button on compaqs......that'll take you into the BIOS screen...in there is where you look to see if the onboard wireless is enabled......not too sure where but cruise around...

#20 | | Wireless was an option on the NX6120. So chances are it doesn't have a wireless adapter in it! |

#22 | | Why not goto the warehouse and buy a 'cyber' usb wireless adaptor they're made with a 'realtek' chipset (realtek been making network hardware for years) and they cost $19 !!! problem solved for less than $20 ! |

#23 | | Yes It would still have the little button. Above the keyboard if I remember correctly. Had a client with one of these - had the same problem you are having. I took the cover of the underneath where the wireless card goes, and there wasn't one. |

#25 | | Well...as drcspy says Just go buy a USB wireless adapter, and your problems are solved. Definitely cheaper then buying the proper wireless adapter. |

#33 | | I had to go to 3 red sheds, even though botany and pakuranga had stock on their computer, neither could find them. similar scenario at sylvia park until a diligent assistant found it. it's perfect.
