Printer problem Canon Pixma MP240 "S error B200"

Keep getting "Service error B200".

The printer starts to print then stops. I have googled the error and have tried turning on/off after diconnecting the power cable. But it is still happening.

I refill my own ink cartridges and one suggestion was re "waste ink".

Don't know what this is. Any suggestions please?

No worries, here's how to reset the machine:
1) Hold the On/Off button for 1 sec. until the printer shuts off.
2) Unplug the USB cable and then the power cord.
3) Press the power button for 1 sec.
4) Wait 10 minutes, then plug the power cord back in and then the USB cable.
5) Press the power button to turn it on again.

resetting a waste ink counter without cleaning the sponge in the printer just means that it will soon leak waste ink all over the desk since the sponge is full.

How do you clean the sponge?

open it up, pull the sponge out (wearing gloves and old clothes, do it in a bathroom in the bathtub)

rinse the hundreds of dollars of waste ink out under water, let the sponges dry, put back together.

Then reset it.

That's not a reset, that's just turning it off and allowing it to discharge, therefore clearing any basic errors. If anybody has the actual waste ink absorber reset code please let me know. I've done many models in the past, some up to 4 times (and yes without changing or even cleaning the sponges and no it didn't leak) but it appears as though with the change to the new 510 series cartridges the reset methods have changed. Getting into service mode is still the same but from there things change.

Well I tried all above and turned it off like it said, waited the 10 minutes and now it doesn't turn back on. Looks like I go and buy a new printer.

The turning off fix is not an option. How does a circuit board respond to a button being pushed when there is no power to it exactly ? Duh. May as well do a little dance round it and utter incantations !
