Well i'm going from Xtra to Telstraclear (need the upload speed). going from 16Mb/s down and 800k up, to 40Mb/s down and 20Mb/s up (new Cable Bis plan).
Well got the phone call saying it will be done 20th (Today) and got an e-mail today saying it has been done. Not bad. Now Telecom came to disconnect me today. Now the fun. Found out the Telstra guy, and he will be here next Thursday (28th). So the telecom guy told me he'll come back next week. The New Cable modem turned up today as well. Not the model i ordered.
Rang Telstra, and the lady could see i was connected.
what have I got my self into |

| TC suck. I hate the way they charge you extra when you go over your cap instead of slowing you down. Numerous times I've been charged for another 10gb just a day or two before the new month starts. Since you cant roll over the cap, and cant legally use 10gb in a day, its just a bloody rip off. |

My experience with TelstraClear could be summed up as: Customer Service - Terrible Quality of internet connection - Fantastic
Fortunately the cable connection in my area is pretty reliable which makes customer service pretty much a non-issue. Had lots of fun at a previous address with poorly installed cable though :/ |

You can very, very easily legally use 20+GB in a day these days. All it takes is a couple of games off Steam and bam, there goes your cap.
I still much prefer paying the extra rather than being throttled though. |

Ok, thats true. However surely its only a small percentage of their customers who would want to do that. I just think it would be fairer to either have the option to buy more or be slowed down, or to be allowed to roll over the amount you have paid for, especially when its so close to the new month. |

| When we switched to TC Biz from telescum biz it was a nightmare! absolute friggin nightmare! BOTH companies were billing us for 3 months, each saying no we providing you with service. . and contact the other its their stuff up, so i went back forwards like a friggin yoyo until i finally got my husband to deal with it. . he ended up having to speak to management higher up the food chain to sort out who F***ked up, we are going back to telescum soon as our contract is up, they are the lesser of the 2 weevils in my opinion. |

| My 2 cents worth is that when TC f**k up, they typically fail epically. That said, in the ten years that I have been in my current business, I have had less overall hassle with them than with Tele$cum. I run ~30 business connections split about 50:50 between the two. I would have more of them with TC if they better coverage. Put simply, I would much rather deal with the odd epic fail than the constant scum at Tele$cum. |

| gobi. Well for ADSL Xtra is better and faster than TC. So far TC (Not as in TC Computers) has done everything wrong. But will give them a chance, as I'm the first here in Hawkes Bay to be setup on this ultra fast service (Still using the copper wire lines). Today will be fun as TC is coming to setup the install and test (so they say). |

Your in for a world of hurt aligning yourself with TC's crud service and plans, i was with them for over 5 years BEFORE the war was waged across the board for ISP whose the best/whose the worst. Have happily moved 5+ customers off TC to other providers offering comparable pricing. Sure they are quick and fast to get you up and running, but thats unfortunately where it stops... you will get a taste of theyre pain over the next few months. |

| I have a wireless problem (i think) & im not to clever when it comes to these things. So i had better start by explaining our set up. We have 2 computers one in the house & one in the office out side inthe garage, which is run by wireless, then we have 5 portable phones 5. 8 Ghz through out the hose & office, Then we have 2 t. v. sets at each end of the house which have both got their own digital decoders & here lies my problem , we both have Philips head sets that are pluged into their own decoders, & when only one is switched on thts fine you can wander anywhere in, or out side the house & hear what is going on on that paticular t. v. set, BUT with them both on the headsets both keep changing to each other t. v. sets every time you move around. Sorry to have taken so long to spit this out, but thought some of you clever people may be able to grasp what the problem is, & how i can fix this, or do i get a tech in & what sort of tech it should be. to finish we are with Telstra Clear & on cable Thanks |

If I'm understanding your posy correctly the problem is with cordless headphones, everything else in the setup is irrelevant.
There probably isn't anything you can do about it aside trying different models/brands of cordless headphone which may operate on a different frequency (no guarantees) |

Swivel, I empathise. I will never ever deal with Telstra Clear again. I had to take them to arbitration to finally get something resolved that I had assurances would be resolved at the beginning.
Were they the last telecommunications provider on earth, I would honestly forego all telecommunications rather than deal with them again.
It got beyond a joke. In my last letter to them before I went to the arbitrator, I told them it had become tantamount to psychological abuse what they were putting me through.
I was being charged for lines that I didn't have and people were contacting me to connect lines that had already been connected, and I then got charged double ...
I won't bore everyone, but I felt at times like I was on Candid Camera and someone was about to jump out at me laughing saying "You've been duped! ".
The bills were ridiculous and made no sense, and everytime I spoke to someone I would be assured that it was all fixed, and I didn't have to worry, which it would transpire it hadn't been, and when I phoned again the person I had originally spoken to had left the company, so I had to start all again.
With the assistance of the arbitrator it all got resolved and I got a credit in the end so I was not out of pocket. I just wish it hadn't had to go as far and long as it did before there was any resolution.
Different situation to yours, but one that will stay with me for years ... ** shudder ** |

I agree i moved customer from Telecom/xtra to Telstra cable apart from the usage bill getting stuffed up on a regular basis from Telstra it was very good performance.
Telecom/Xtra ADSL line speed 22Mbps Actual download speed 15Mbps peak but most of the time 7Mbps between 7-10 weeknights it would quite often slow to 2Mbps
Telstra Cable 10Mbps plan Anytime i downloaded anything from reliable servers it would be at 10Mbps
I think Telecom is just going to get worse they can't supply the full bandwidth of an ADSL2 connection now what is it going to be like when they have cabinets supplying hundreds/Thousands more customers 25Mbps connections.
I live in an area which is primary residential which means Telecom don't want to upgrade anything until they have to(we were one of the last urban exchanges to get ADSL upgrade in NZ)i have worked on a lot of customers computers in the area and our average ADSL line speed is 2Mbps. |

david13. Well adsl2+ is a max of 24mbps. Telecom is only going to get better. But not for upload speed (unless you pay heaps). I get between 10 - 14Mbps here (Never below 10) and 18Mbps at home. So I'm happy with Telecom. Not moving because i'm un-happy.
Just for $10 more a month i go from 10-14Mbps down and 800Kbps up, to 40Mbps down and 20Mbps up.
Just couldn't say no to that |

According to an ex telecom person i was talking to the problem at peak times is the number of broadband connections in use off the same exchange. Which fits into an experience i had a year back with a customer in semi rural area there BB was super responsive and fast they moved 4 kms down the road which put them on the central exchange and even though the line speed was still good the BB slowed right down at peak periods |
