i ticked to hide a couple so I could see something better, and now I only have the one with the http: bit in it, and then the tabs... but not the important ones! so I can't choose to untick it as there is nothing there to do so... help?

You mean the navigation toolbar? The option to show it should still be there.

Failing that, go View - Toolbars - Customize, and click Restore Default Settings.

You mean it's full screen? Try F11.

Excellent, didn't know that one.

Another way is to right click on the menu bar (the bit with arrows etc. ) and tick Navigation Toolbar.

you should be able to right click somewhere near the address bar and a menu will pop up giving you come customize options
