Do you really need an ipod touch? If you only use it for music, i would recommend just ipod nano 8gb. Battery wise, if you only listen to music.

Yeah, the iPod touch is over kill unless you want to be able to do email/apps etc aswell.

The new nano is very cool, and if you want your entire collection the iPod classic is great, I have almost filled my 80GB classic, but it makes an excellent 2nd backup for the entire library.

The latest gen *if* you want/need a speaker; earlier gen if you don't care.

Yes it is easy.

I'd agree with Mone - if you're into games, apps, watching movies, checking email etc then go for it but if you just want music then go for a classic or Nano.

I would advise against getting a 1st gen. My one I purchased in 2008 has almost stopped working completely. Volume bar wont work, computer wont recognise it and it is really slow and laggy.

On the other hand I have three of these at work and they're still going strong.

Another good point is watching movies, my daughter watches movies on my iPhone all the time when we are out and about if she has to be waiting around for us.

You can use Handbrake to rip the DVD to an iPhone/touch friendly size.

Ipod battery is already dodgy enough without a big screen.
