Put in new batteries, press the buttons to sync the sender, keyboard and mouse - then install the correct drivers so that the low power sleep mode works and doesn't drain the batteries as fast.

We use rechargeable batteries so that isn't a concern. The problem is the left button no longer works

I have an MX550 revolution desktop, tis rather nice. Pretty sure you can buy the mouse by its self. Depends what you want to spend really.

Razor Mamba wireless gaming mouse.
NICE mouse, has cool little recharge stand. Expensive though but it is the best.

I have one of these, A bit more money than your average mouse but it is awesome, I mainly use it for photoshop work and editing thousands of images, used to get rsi but problem solved with this, highly recommended if you want to spend 100 dollars on a mouse.

I have several of these too. Fantastic Mice and the tiny little USB dongle is great because you can add it to a netbook and you almost wouldn't know it was there. I use rechargeables in it and they last for a good 12 months at a time at least. I highly recommend it. The rechargeables I use are the Varta "Ready to Use" ones. They don't need charging before use, and hold there charge far longer than any other rechargeable I know.

Oh yeah, and I haven't found a surface yet, that it hasn't been able to work on, even shag pile carpet and old linoleum bench tops, for which my previous optical mice would never work. .
