#1 | | Hi guys. We purchased our new Lappy on Feb 7 and now its screen is really really dull - I can only JUST read what I am typing on screen. It is almost like being in hibernation mode but we arent. We have found where to adjust the screen brightness, but it is already at the highest setting. IS there anything else anyone can suggest? Many thanks :) | |

#5 | | more than likely the inverter has died causing the backlights not to turn on. Alternatively look on your keyboard, press the FN button and there should be a button with a picture of a sun and ^, fold fn and press that one and see if it brightens up |

#6 | | You shouldnt need to plug in another moniter, if you bought this brand new, then it could be just a setting that you might have accidently put it in. What windows are you running? |

#7 | they stated they've found how to increase the brightness of the screen ... ... ... ... ... HOW do YOU suggest they diagnose the fault then ?
if it IS a faulty monitor theres NO other way to test that if it IS faulty then plugging in another screen will tell them IMMEDIATELY if theres a a fault in the laptop screen cause it'll be fine on the external... .
don't you use logic ?
oh by the way to the original poster if maybe better if you plug the external screen in while the laptop is OFF then turn it on. (simpler) |

#11 | | I bought this brand new 1mth ago and have had no probs up until now, so I cant see how it could be a setting. I had walked away from the puter for 5mins and came back to it not working properly - and I cant blame the kids cos they were all asleep at the time :/ |

#12 | well in the time it's taken to get this far in this thread you should have/could have plugged in to 10 external monitors... ...

#14 | | Sorry - but my kids dinner came before hooking up a monitor. Plus we had problems unscrewing the monitor from our old PC. Many apologies for taking my time to answer! |
