#1 | Friends of mine have downloaded some movies, and have tried to play them on their DVD player without success. I assume they have ISO files. . ? How would they make them playable on their DVD player?
Thanks, you experts for any advice! | |

#3 | Really need to know what files they have downloaded. Could be . avi, . iso or folder of . vob, . ts etc files.
ISO of a DVD would be easiest, they would just burn it as an image.
Folder of . vod . ts etc would need to be packed into an image then burnt.
Most probable is they have . avi files which they've then burnt as a 'data' disk.
They need some application to re-encode it as a DVD movie, then burn it to disk |

#4 | | use a video converter than burn the files to DVD or with some programmes you can burn AVI straight to DVD, but if its and ISO use IMG BURN |

#6 | OK, thanks for your advice - a few options to try there. It will have to wait until I visit them next time - they live in a different city.
Cheers. |

#7 | | Lots of DVD players will play . avi files. If it can it will say on it: DivX compatible. My pick is the Philips DVP-3360K which is available from Dick Smith for $99. |

#11 | | That looks ok - has to be something fairly easy to use as they aren't the most computer literate people! |

#14 | there's a build of devede for Windows too; http://majorsilence.com/devede
devede would be my first choice. dvdstyler a close second but it's a little more complicated to use. devede is insanely simple. |

#16 | | you can use a program called AVI converter. You can easily download a free version from net, but you need to unlock to get the full software, which is pretty easy if you know what I mean |
