#1 | Can you suggest anything better for a similar price for gaming and general use? I really don't want to make a costly mistake.
AMD PHENOM II X2 555 3. 2GHZ $175. 00 ASUS M4N78 SE NFORCE 720D Motherboard $99. 00 CORSAIR 2X1GB DDR2-800 XMS2 CL5 RAM $95. 00
These components will be paired with a Radeon 4850, 320gb HDD and 460w Coolermaster Extreme Power Plus PSU which I already have.

#2 | | it's ok if you are on an extremely tight budget, double the ram however. i. e. 2x2. |

#3 | | I am on a very tight budget. Is 4gb ram really worth it though as my Vista Ultimate OS will only see 3. 2gb of it? I'm not really looking to go 64bit as I like to play a lot of older games. |

#4 | | A Phenom II will perform better with a proper AM3 board & DDR3 ram. |

#5 | | Personally I wouldnt even touch AMD with a long stick. All up I built my intel system for a little over a grand. yeah its LGA775 but the parts are getting cheaper. X58 is overpriced and AMD is too problematic. Asus however is good but anything AMD chipset and CPU wise is just crap.
