most modern laptops have inbuilt wireless doesn't yours ? (could be a switch on the side to turn in on) other wise just buy a usb wireless dongle ... . .

Some access points ship with wireless turned off, is the wireless light flashing on the front of the router?

Do you have wireless on the laptop? Right click on my computer go to Properties then device manager then under network controllers I think they hide it.

Most of the time it is the fact that the wireless is not connected on the Keyboard, if you find no side switch to activate it, look for an icon of a capital A with 2 curved connetion pics coming out each side, normally located on the "F" family of keys, so is the case with Dell laptops anyway.
