Im looking to get a faster braodband for watching TVs online. Is there any company that provides a faster broadband but not DSL? Your helps will be much appreciated. Cheers

Broadband but not DSL? What?

Telecom owns the lines and from what I've seen and heard they're the fastest (on average) nationwide. Just steer clear of XT ;)

all providers provide speeds as fast as your lines allow... unless you go for a plan that has a speed cap. so it all depends on what plans suit your needs ... best to check if where you live allows adsl2 connectivity , most isp websites will have a checker on there for you

This is not true. I have had Orcon here in the past and telecom is 2x faster

Thanks for that. I heard that Cable provides faster broadband speed than normal DSL modem.

Telstra Clear Cable since you are in Christchurch. 25 Mbps down, 2 Mbps up is the fastest residential I think.

Are you using the same modem? also have you been upgraded to ADSL2+... and was your Orcon plan full speed? ? ?

I have pretty much max speed you can get on normal ADSL with Orcon, normally just over 7mb/s.

If you are in Telstraclear Cable range, that's your fastest.

Most telstra clear cable plans are 10mbps unless your on the 120GB a month plan which is 25mbps but like $230 lol

Yes to all questions there malachiman. My speed went from 7 to 13Mbps with the only change being the provider.

get the next modem up which is thompson but then again it might be old I've had this for over 12mnths now but also telecom have unlimited gb's $100. a mnth I was on 5gb per mnth then started watchin movies, then it slowed me up cos I went over the allotted gb's.
I upgraded to unlimited n payed n xtra $20. watch movies all the time now

yeah, all providers are not as fast as you line will allow. We were with Orcon as well and our speeds went down to 700kbps (yep under 1MB) and changing to Xtra with everything the same it went up to 18Mbps instead. Orcon's network suxed for us.

Well hello, broadband can be 100 times faster than dialup.

In fact on this connection, hubby reliably informs me it's almost 200 times faster.
