Setting up an wireless access point from a router

Running a cable router from motorola modem (telstraclear) but am wanting to run a second wireless router from existing router as a access point. I want to be able to access wireless router to change settings. Its only running like a switch. Lan 192. 168. 0. 1 accesses cable router.

Trying to determine the actual question being asked is really impossible.

Lan settings on primary router is 192. 168. 0. 1. Do I have to change the primary lan in order to access secondary wireless router configurations?

You temporarily change your computer settings to match the wireless device, configure as necessary including changing its subnet to match the other router and then change your computer back.

The simplest thing for you to do is google "using a wireless router as an access point" The first couple of results give you pretty good run down of what you have to do.

The wireless access point needs the ip auto assigned by the cable router.

I did this a while ago, you need to disable some settings in the wireless router so it acts just as an access point. As suggested above, google it, there are some specific things you need to do.
