#6 | I have a bad feeling vista home versions don't backup applications etc. There is I think a full backup option that takes an image of the disk on business and ultimateversions, so you can just reload the OS back onto the disk.
Check back for some more answers when other come in as I'm not100 percent sure and they will know this stuff inside out. |

#11 | oh don't go there why it died. It was in the repair shop for over a month, got it back home after they replaced a fan and motherboard and then within in 10 days it failed again. They have replaced our computer now with a brand new one. HN have our old one the other day I was talking to them as they were going to backup onto disk, my favs and emails but they couldn't find it. I was sure how to 'undo' my backup. I played around with it and found stuff ie games and pdf downloads, music etc. all stuff except for emails and favs. before they old computer crapped out again I did a backup after finding out from here that I can backup onto external hard drives and not disks. disks I wasn't sure which one to use. LOLI know a wee bit but not enough lol |

#13 | | That sounds more promising. Maybe the system unit is being referred to as the hard drive and the old hdd is still holding data for the plucking. |

#14 | | depends how much data you have to save, not much point using 50 CD's when you could just use a couple of DVD's aye. |

#15 | HEY thanks guys. I will try and ring them this morning hoping that they might still have old computer and see if they can pluck out that info via that website you gave me oxford. in future for my stuff what do I do? I get loads of website each day for homeschooling etc and now a feel like my left arm has been cut off. I thought I was doing good backing up. infact now we have 2 computer one desk and one lap and the desk is backed up everyday. I just leave the seagate on now. BUT if I can't get out emails and favs etc now... ? ? I wish I knew more stuff about puters. I pop in here now and then looking for info, you guys have a huge amount of info for us lot out there cheers and hip hooray for you guys |

#19 | If you can't use Mozbackup at all to recover your emails and addressbook, follow the instructions here to move your profile over to a backup folder. http://kb. mozillazine.org/Moving_your_mail_storage_location_ %28Thunderbird%29 Or in shortened form http://fwd4. me/OA8 |
