Adobe flash player problem

I have tried downloading Adobe flash player 10. 1 with no success, I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, I have checked under add/remove programmes and it is installed on my hard-drive but whenever I use a web site that requires Adobe flash player it states Flash player not detected. Any help would be much appreciated please.

What web browser?
There are two versions of Flash: one for IE, one for others browsers. You can get the latest version from filehippo.com

I am using IE

Thanks rayza59 but the message I am getting is not relating to the plug-in crashing, instead it is not detecting it. More help or suggestions would be appreciated please

#2, thanks for the suggestion, have tried downloading for IE from filehippo but still unsuccessful, any more suggestions please ?

Try a different browser?

IIRC plugins are ActiveX controls in IE, perhaps you have them switched off somewhere in the config.

#7, thanks for suggestion, plugins were enabled but read that they should be set to 'prompt' so changed that but still no sucess

I have downloaded in Google Chrome and Safari but IE says Flash Player not dedected, I am at a loss as to what to try next

geek_sooseque, Jun 27, 12:43 pm

Go to adobe.com, search for a Flash UNINSTALLER. After you run that, get a fresh version to install.

Thanks for the above comment, yes I have done that several times, still no good though

Try CCleaner (filehippo.com) and give the registry a good cleanout (keep the backup . reg file for a week or so). Then try again.

geek_r.g.nixon, Jun 27, 2:02 pm

Thanks r. g. nixon, please bear with me I am not that computer savvy, I have downloaded the CCleaner, please advise what I do next i. e. what boxes do I tick to analyse and what do I scan for issues ? Could you please explain your comment about the backup . reg file also, that would be much appreciated.

have you got the latest version of ie8?

geek_lostdude, Jun 27, 8:59 pm

#15 yes I have

geek_sooseque, Jun 27, 9:11 pm

Download Malwarebytes, install, update then restart into safe-mode & do a full scan in Malwarebytes.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download. php

To get into safe-mode, restart PC & press F5 or F8 repeatedly BEFORE you see the loading windows screen

geek_lostdude, Jun 27, 9:19 pm

Thanks lostdude, I followed your instructions and ended up deleting over 200 infections ! this has unfortunately not fixed the adobe flashplayer problem though

geek_sooseque, Jun 28, 4:34 pm

Are you running any antivirus program at all?

geek_lostdude, Jun 28, 4:40 pm

Yes AVG to scan once a week

geek_sooseque, Jun 28, 4:43 pm

hmmm... that's pretty bad if it failed to detect 200 infections :S

Try running this:

http://www.bitdefender.com/scanner/online/free.html

geek_lostdude, Jun 28, 4:46 pm

Yes thats what I thought also, what will bitdefender do that the other one didn't ?

geek_sooseque, Jun 28, 4:55 pm

It will probably find other infections that malwarebytes might've missed.

You never rely on just ONE anti-anything.

If you want a better alternative to AVG, I suggest Avira Antivir:

http://www.free-av.com/en/trialpay_download/1/avira_antivir_
personal__free_antivirus.html

You can skip the bitdefender scan & just dl & run antivir instead.

Will do, thanks for your help
