DVD is classified 4. Cant be watched in Canada...

#4 | | Or, downloadand install DVD Shrink from www.dvdshrink.org/ run it with the dvd in drive. It will automatically make the copy region free After copying it to hard drive, burn it with dvd burning software-Nero eg. |

#6 | Canadian DVD players are only required to play 480 line formats (as they are an ntsc country) and not all displays sold there will take 576 lines as used on DVDs in countries with a history of PAL broadcasts.
Multiregion is the first and small hurdle to overcome. |

#9 | vtecintegra , America (and I assume Canada) are rather strange in that regard, the majority of the players will not play PAL, regardless if they are region-free or not.
to convert a movie from PAL to NTSC takes more than just ripping the movie and re-burning it, you need additional software to convert the video stream, something like DVD Rebuilder, or DVD Flick might do it.
To remove Region Coding (different), ripping the movie will do that. |

Pirate downloads nicely avoid all that region/DRM crap and apparently it's even legal in canada because they pay a blank media tax on every disk. | |
