How do you know its the pcb not the drive. Just a thought?

I'm a computer tech. A giveaway was the small campfire that was blazing on top of the hard drive. The hard drive does spin up etc with a different logic board but unfortunately does need the correct one to be able to be read.

All good just checking, some people come to conclusions like pcb on drive must be broken > then waste heaps of time and money finding a pcb > oh it don't work!

Hang on I did hear drive making grinding noise when questioned.

Yeah I know, but a clients pc and they not backed up dataand trying to save them sht loads of money with a data recovery company. I bet theres a huge gap in the market for this if someone was collecting 2nd hand hard drives out there. We usually just junk them.
