Problem with desktop and cursor

geek_melfordJune 3, 2008, 11:53 am#1
Problem with desktop and cursor Wherever I click on my desktop white messages pop up eg they say connect, save, save as, etc. and they prevent me from clicking on start or opening any programmes. I also noticed occasionally the cursor moves across the screen by itself sometimes. Operating Windows XP. And I am already connected and online. How do I fix this please? Running AVG and Internet Explorer

Have you ever seen anything start up without you telling it to? Is your computer a PC or laptop? Are you using it now to post on here?

Try a diffferent mouse......

Yes faulty mouse is much more likely. If you're using a laptop, maybe try unplugging the mouse and using the touchpad instead.

No not using the laptop now. Can't be the mouse as it does it even though a mouse isn't connected to the laptop

Disable the touchpad then, in the control panel and use a mouse instead. This will identify if the mousepad is the cause.
