ok a iittle test

if ebay is slow try this instead of cliking a link in your favorites or however you normally get there

open up your browser (is internet explorer what you use!)
and in the address bar type the following numbers then tap enter.see if you get there faster.report back :

66.211.181.181

I can get to ebay fine (xtra bb and chrome/Ie)

when I use the URL but NOT when I use the dns numbers !

Check your DNS settings:

Click on your Airport (WIFI Settings) select OPEN NETWORK PREFERENCES, Click ADVANCED and then DNS.You will probably have something that is assigned by your router (example 192.168.1.254 or 10.1.1.1) it will be grey.Try adding a new one (XTRA is 202.27.158.40 and 202.27.156.72)

The eBay system will be undergoing general maintenance from approximately 23:00 PT (11pm) on Thursday, January 26th to 01:00 PT (1am) on Friday, January 27th. During this maintenance period, certain eBay site features may be intermittently unavailable or slow.

try 203.97.33.1 and 203.97.37.1 (Telstra)

try turning off ipv6 on your wireless interface (a.k.a. airport on your mac).
try another browser.
update OS X (i.e. Software Updates). it seems quite few mac users never update OS X.
update flash.
run Onyx. http://www.titanium.free.fr/
