Can I make my wifi iPad 2 go 3G via my iPhone?

Probably a question asked before but we have just moved rural, can't get wifi here, need to look into satellite wireless. But can I use the 3G on my iPhone 4 thru my wifi iPad! I have googled on the phone. It can't find a simple answer. Any help appreciated, thanks

I can do it on an Android so assume you can do it on an iphone. I'm not sure of your options but in the Android it would be to enable 'tethering and hotspot' for Wifi. Then allow it to be a portable Wifi hotspot - it's quite similar to allowing a bluetooth device to connect. Hope you have a good data plan ;)

Personal Hotspot set up

Personal Hotspot refers to the Internet-sharding feature on iPhone 3GS or later.

On the Main Menu select Settings Icon
Select General
Select Network
Ensure 3G is enabled, Cellular Data & Data Roaming are ON
Select Cellular Data Network
Scroll down to Internet Tethering and enter Internet in the APN field
Exit out of Settings to save changes
Go back to Settings (Personal Hotspot should now appear)
Scroll down and select Personal Hotspot and turn it ON
On the iPhone 3GS choose whether to enable Bluetooth or USB. On iPhone 4 if WiFi is currently off, you will be prompted to enable it.
After configuring Personal Hotspot, you can directly access the settings from Settings > Personal Hotspot.

Note: You cannot use your WiFi connetion for Internet connectivity while other devices are using WiFi for Personal Hotspot. You can only share a Cellular Data connection, you cannot share a WiFi connection.

Get a 3G smart plan for your phone and make sure you have good 3G coverage where you live.

On iPhone: Settings -> Personal Hotspot -> On

On iPad: Settings -> General ->Bluetooth -> On
- Then in same setting, under devices, look for your iPhone and tap "not connected" to "connect" (this last bit must be done everytime you turn on the iPad)
