On my old computer I had a number of photos. When I got the new one 6 months ago everything on the old one was swapped over to the new thing - Acer. The photos, which were in JPEG format are on this computer now ,but I can't open them. When I click on the image, I get some message with some very strange writing. I believe the new computer doesn't recognise them - why is this and what can I do to fix it ? Thank you !

You'll need to change the default application that is used to open that type of file. How to do this would depend on what operating system you use.

Download Irfanview, it's free and will open almost anything or will say why it can't, like wrong headers or corrupted files. Do you have the old machine, or at least the hard drive with the original images on it?
