Converting PDF to Word

I posted this problem a while ago but I'm no further ahead. It was suggested I update Acrobat Reader which I think I've done but it still doesn't work.
When I open a PDF attachment it comes out gobbledegook.
Don't understand because I used to be able to convert them with just one click no probs.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

What did you convert PDFs with? Acrobat Reader doesn't save PDFs out to any other format, you need Acrobat Pro for that.

It really depends on the source of the PDF, since PDFs can be composed from anything. It can simply be a large image or it could have been saved from a word processor or page layout program. It can be saved with document structure intact or it can be stripped of it.
PDFs themselves have only one main goal: to look the same across devices and when printed. For that you don't need to know the meaning of the words or that they are words or sentences or columns or that this page flows to that page.

So converting a document can be easy (and it usually is) or it can be hard. The harder jobs require better tools.

Word 2013 both writes and reads native PDF files so if you have the latest version of Word its built in.
