Rate for connecting to WiFi on holiday

scha, Feb 25, 10:46pm
I have just paid $7 for 24hrs WiFi while staying in a camping ground which I thought was OK, but a friend has just booked a holiday and is quoted $5 an HOUR at one motel and $3 an hour at another Seems a bit much to me.
What is the average rate ?

There is no average rate. It varies wildly. I've seen hotels charge upwards of $20 an hour.

Some offer free wifi, but it can be very very slow. Others have data caps, instead of hourly rates.

It's for 30 days, and 1gb/day limit.
Download the spark wifi app to find the nearest hotspot near you.

Given the spread of web access devices and the number of people who now like to be "connected" the time has come for free WiFi access to be the norm when staying in hotels / Motels etc. You are not charged extra for power, hot water etc etc net access now basically falls in the essential category !
I would have no problem with some sort of throttle / limit over the usage, so that the greedy amongst us do not take advantage, but for normal check email, check a web site etc usage then it should be free !
