Upstream data usage

?? Message 1 of 1

Hi - over the last few days my upstream data has blown out with no change in how I'm using the net via our cable broadband connection. Any ideas what I can do or check to find out what is going wrong?

Thanks

one of your computers has a virus that is sending out spam or some one has installed dropbox (or similar cloud storage) and is currently uploading gigabytes of data

Have you changed the default admin password on your router?
Have you disabled remote access to it?
Are you using WPA2 wifi encryption with a 12+ character password?

Turn off all your devices: phones, computers, xbox, Wii, TiVo, TV, NAS. Then ask your ISP to check if usage is still happening over the next hour or so.
