FireFox for Android.Its RUBBISH!

I have gone back to Chrome as Firefox continually crashes and freezes up. You would think they could sort out their crap.

geek_tool_shop173, May 11, 9:47 am

Agreed, try Opera mini, very fast and saves a lot of data but wont play video or the full blower version which will do it all. The default android browser is not bad. My phone has most Google apps shut down so haven't used and not likely to try Chrome.

geek_wayne416, May 11, 10:06 am

What is the 'default android browser" called?

geek_tool_shop173, May 11, 10:30 am

Ahhh, I think I know what one you are talking about. From memory is pretty plain?

geek_tool_shop173, May 11, 10:32 am

Its just called browser, on mine, 4.2.2 its icon is a blue earth.

geek_wayne416, May 11, 10:36 am

Maybe plain but lots of features once you get use to it just like a desktop browser.

geek_wayne416, May 11, 10:40 am

Chrome since 4.4

geek_vtecintegra, May 11, 10:45 am

trying to remember where the browser is

geek_tool_shop173, May 11, 10:45 am

so maybe mine is just chrome then?

geek_tool_shop173, May 11, 10:48 am

Mines chrome 42.0.2311.111

geek_tool_shop173, May 11, 10:49 am

Settings- apps- all apps, maybe disabled.

geek_wayne416, May 11, 10:58 am

geek_wayne416, May 11, 11:02 am

I remember it looked like an image of the globe (world)
I have looked under Settings, but there isn't "apps- all apps"
I looked under Application manager instead. looks like it has disappeared anyway.

geek_tool_shop173, May 11, 11:09 am

Hang on, Im thinking of my Tablet. Thats where i saw the browser

geek_tool_shop173, May 11, 11:12 am

Disabled apps are at bottom of list in all apps so scroll to bottom, maybe there.

geek_wayne416, May 11, 11:12 am

Depends on your device - what are you using? (and what Android version)

geek_vtecintegra, May 11, 11:14 am

Its a samsungS3 version 4.3

geek_tool_shop173, May 11, 11:27 am

Try Dolphin.

geek_rz_zone, May 11, 11:29 am

I think it's just called 'Internet' on those

geek_vtecintegra, May 11, 11:29 am

opera mini

geek_velenski, May 11, 12:28 pm

Chrome on iOS is terrabad

geek_2nd2none, May 11, 1:09 pm

I like the Mercury browser on IOS I see they make one for Android, might be worth a go.

geek_mcdaff, May 11, 1:49 pm

i tried firefox for android and it constantly crashed my phone/locked up etc. lasted about an hour before i deleted it

geek_fordcrzy, May 11, 5:28 pm

Just "Browser" though I think in newer phones Chrome is now the default.

geek_oclaf, May 12, 11:32 pm

i have the nexus 5 lollipop and i have no problems with firefox. if it crashes remove it reboot and reinstall it again .

geek_intrade, May 13, 1:21 pm

Firefox is a faecal browser on any platform these days. Never lasted longer than a handful of tries on my Android phone, and a memory hog on my laptop that only serious tweaking makes usable.

+1 for Opera Mini and its recent upgrade. Equal with the stock browser ("Internet") IMO. Uses less data but frequently has form filling glitches that Internet lacks. Ghostery is worth a look, too.

geek_rua69, May 13, 9:43 pm

I will put in a vote for Dolphin as well, you can look at all sorts of sites ranking and rating the different browsers out there but in the end it come down to, I like what I like because I like it.

geek_ctnz, May 14, 9:16 am

For me, opera is by far the best. The best by far of all the Mobile Browsers, and for one reason only; TEXT WRAP. None of the other mobile browsers seem to handle this function anywhere near as well as Opera does.

geek_badcam, May 15, 11:49 am

Hubby swears by Opera for that exact same reason.
