Windows live mail

My Dads emails are not coming in . he is getting the following message
Unable to send or receive messages for the xxxx account. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.

He rang spark and was told that windows live mail 2012 was good to use and has been for a while but does not seem to be working now. any help would be much apreciated

These are the standard settings used by most mail clients. Note that Windows 8 Mail does not support POP3.

Incoming Mail Server:
Uses SSL
Port: 995
Username: Your full email address without

Their comment about Windows 8 Mail is probably referring to the modern app, not Windows Live mail.

I'm using win8.1 with live mail 2012 and xtra without any problems.
Sometimes, Yahoo needs to authenticate you or get you to answer a security question before it will continue. This needs to be done through Yahoo and can't be done through windows Mail. You will need to login to xtra via put your full xtra email address for username and your mail password and follow the prompts.
