Laptop will not start

My laptop will not light up. Battery is fully charged and the red power light is on. Nothing comes up on the screen and the mouse is not working. It is only 4 weeks old.

That's the problem - you got one with 'stop' in the name!

Try this:
Shut down, remove electric cord, remove battery, wait a minute, re-insert battery, plug in electric cord, restart.

First of all Nixon I was disappointed with your first reply thought I was going to get solution. Got all excited with your second reply and thanks a million problem solved. Must add you must be very clever.xx

Only moderately clever. I've been around for a while, and your particular problem has come up a few dozen times on this messageboard.

Glad the fix worked for you.

geek_r.g.nixon, Mar 12, 11:02 am

Another one for moderately clever Nixon.
How do I get my laptop to start straight on to desktop without having to log in?

Thank you both moderately clever people. All problems solved.

when you take out the power cord and battery you have to hold down the power button for about 20secs, then you put it back together and start

geek_andrew.t, Mar 12, 7:58 pm

yes and holding down the power button discharges that static electricity.
