I have to assume that you are talking about hard drives on different machines? It depend on how much data you want to move. Anything under 64GB and the easiest way is to buy a USB 'thumb drive' and copy from the first machine to the thumb drive and then from the thumb drive to the second machine.

More that 64GB, an external 1TB hard drive can be had for under $100. Same procedure as above.

The 'free' option is to connect the machines over a network (wifi or wired) and simply transfer directly between machines, that requires a bit more skill to set up, especially if its the two laptops are on different operating systems,

I assumed from the question that the OP's computer experience didn't extend top opening the case, hence the more consumer friendly options.
