Google ad words

Are these any good for advertising for a small business or better for big companies. I know very little about it but have computer companies pushing it at me and I don't know much about them.
Thanks for any coments.

Adblock takes care of them.

It really depends what line of work you're in. Basically you're "bidding" on certain keywords. Adwords takes care of it for you if you set a daily budget. The higher your budget, the higher up on the page your ad will be in relation to other ads that use the same keywords.

But if you're competing for the keyword "fast food" or "Holden" for example, you're going to have to spend a LOT of money to get your ad noticed.

If you use less common keywords, you won't have to spend as much.

I find that I need to spend $5-10 a day to get my ads to the top, but it could be vastly different for you.
