Power supply calculator

Just tried the extreme outer vision power supply calculator and it has been revamped.
It now calculates a higher recommended wattage than what it used to.
The problem is that it now says both of my PCs have power supplies that are too small in wattage.
Should I be worried or are they just trying to boost sales of new power supplies?

Its probably because you are using AMD video cards. Changing them to better, power efficient Nvidia ones will fix that. Like a GTX 970 for eg.

Pretty much just use whatever is recommended for your graphics card(s) - GPU manufacturers build a bit of leeway into those numbers anyway.

Also consider quality is more important than advertise capacities.

using GTX 960 in one pc & HD6850 in the other. The AMD uses less power than the Nvidia one actually.

Weeeell yes but it is a 5 year old and MUCH less powerful GPU :P Not apples to apples.

In saying that, even for its time, it used less power than the equivalent GTX 4xx series. So that's saying something considering AMD's track record with power consumption lol.
