Connect ethernet cable to laptop and login to modem.

You can reset it to factory and use the default passwords.

You can use WPS if the modem has a button for it. You can also retrieve the WiFi password from any other Windows computer connected by going to the Wireless Network Properties, going to the Security tab and showing the characters.

Do they have another computer connected to the wifi? They may be able to see from there.

It's not written on the bottom of the modem is it? I know that Xtra used to do this with the Thompson units for a while there.

No, you need the password for the wifi, They're 2 different things.

This might be a polite way of saying "I don't want to share my data with you, because your browsing habits will use up all of my allowance and I'll have to pay more or run at dialup speed for the rest of the billing period".

Reminds me of the time my brother had visitors staying so removed the phone cable from the modem and blamed his ISP for the outage. His 'friend' fixed it, by using the phone cable from his eftpos machine . now he really did have a problem!
