Pc wont detect optical drive as writable

Trying to make some music cds for the car but have found that mt pc wont detect my drive as writable. I have tried at least 4 different programs at 2 separate optical drives and still no luck. Running windows 7 64 ultimate.

Drives can fail. If the drives are very old, they might be read only. What does it say on the bezel/faceplate? CDR/W? DVD-ROM? DVD-RW?

The original drive is a brand new Lg 12x bluray cd/dvd etc. the other is an Asus dvd writer which works fine in another pc.

Maybe it's the disks?

I often use https://cdburnerxp.se/en/home - even on Windows 8.

Ill give that one a crack, although it should detect it without a specific program.
