Wi Fi

Do you always have to have your wireless modem plugged into your computer,if you were just using a tablet and had no computer but had the wireless modem how does it work.

You don't need a computer to use a wireless router.

although a computer is useful for troubleshooting wireless/connectivity issues since you can plug in directly and configure modem, which is not possible with wireless only devices.

geek_king1, Jun 20, 10:30 am

It depends on the modem, mine lets me configure over wifi

geek_suicidemonkey, Jun 20, 10:48 am

do you just plug the router into phone plug and power.

WiFi is the most temperamental crap ever invented.
Sometimes it connects then nek minit it is not.

geek_cleggyboy, Jun 20, 6:34 pm

Really? Must be your gear or settings. Ours is faultless, 27/7, never misses a beat.

geek_morticia, Jun 20, 6:39 pm

Same here, I think we have done 2 restarts of the router in the past year.

geek_gammelvind, Jun 20, 6:56 pm

You've jinxed yourself now.

geek_king1, Jun 20, 6:58 pm

That's ok, it's not me uses it mostly so I can manage without ;-)

geek_morticia, Jun 20, 7:03 pm

Something's wrong with your equipment. With reliable gear, you should get 24/7 uninterrupted Wifi.

geek_suicidemonkey, Jun 20, 7:29 pm

Thankyou,I don't have a problem with my WI FI it goes 24/7 and have never had to turn it off I have it plugged into my computer I was asking for a friend who thought she may have been able to use it without turning the laptop on.
