Windows 7 multiple iexplore in task manager

even though only one browser open .
What are possible reasons and how to fix as each is using memory . I delete one, browser closes and so do all iexplore disappear but upon firing up again multiple appear even if no tabs and just one browser window.
Even on reboot the problem persists . is it a Windows 7 fault or something more sinister?

I think Internet Explorer will have 1 process per open tab, plus 1 for the overall browser. So a minimum of 2 processes, increasing by 1 for each additional tab. Is that what you're seeing?

Nope . single browser window with no extra tabs . but multiple iexplore showing in taskbar window all with varying memory usage.

Browser extensions will generally add processes. Adblock, search tool bars etc.

Not running any browser extension as I find them irritating and intrusive

Also happens when I use alternative browser like Maxthon

Windows Update then, I think that uses Internet Explorer as the engine to get updates.

I also use CCleaner for maintenance etc

Curious as to why you think there is a 'problem' here?

geek_vtecintegra, Jul 4, 7:00 pm

Problem is one browser with only the one tab but task manager has 5 iexplore listed . why would that not be a reason to ask the question especaially when each is using memory . just one page all up remember

Choose View -> Select Columns, Command Line. This may give you a clue whether it's Windows Update, Internet Explorer, or something else.

I don't even use IE and I have 3 iexplore processes when I open it up. Chrome has 22 with 6 tabs.
Its normal. Maybe you need a memory upgrade.

What about that is a actual problem?

geek_vtecintegra, Jul 5, 4:09 pm

That is why I'm asking . seemed unusual and page loading is slow .
I'll take it somewhere though there are a lot of PC shops with average competence or maybe I've just been unlucky in Auckland
